Our dental hygiene team are a vital part of the Brisbane Dental Studio team. Dental hygienists provide clinical, therapeutic and educational services to enhance patient’s oral and overall health and support to the dentist in treating patients particularly in the realm of oral health. Here are some of the tasks that are completed by a dental hygienists:
- Examination of teeth, mouth and gums to identify decay, periodontal disease, oral cancer and other issues.
- Provide preventive dental care where they clean all surfaces of the teeth, removing plaque, tartar and stains from above and below the gum line
- Treat gum disease by performing root planning and scaling
- Apply sealants and fluorides to help protect the teeth
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Manage patient treatment plans.
- Help patients develop and maintain good oral hygiene but providing oral hygiene education. This includes information on how to correctly clean teeth and the relationship between diet and oral health.
